Geology Camp

Fascinating Enough for Your Little One to Yell, “That’s Cool, Mom!” Yet Deep Enough for Parents to Say, “Finally, The Answers I’ve Been Looking For!”

Has someone ever told you…

“Everywhere you look, layer upon layer of earth has built up over millions of years. And dinosaur fossils embedded in this mess easily prove it.”

But what if this isn’t so? What if, when you actually examine the Biblical record, you discover that this can’t be true?

Or maybe you know what the Bible says is true. But you’re not sure how to explain this to your friends. You feel stuck.

What you need is someone who understands the world of geology from a Christian worldview. Someone who can help you apply the concepts of Scripture to geology accurately, so God’s Word comes alive and you see the Bible as trustworthy.

Enter geologist and author, Patrick Nurre.

Geology Camp speaker Patrick Nurre

Patrick Nurre of Northwest Treasures draws from over 40 years of experience as a geologist, including field studies in the US and Israel. Patrick was first trained in secular geology before becoming a Christian and a young-earth geologist. As such, Patrick makes an excellent host and teacher for this enriching family camp.

This year, Patrick will be teaching two family camps.

Geology Camp 1: August 4th-7th

Exploring Fossils, Dinosaurs, and the Flood

Geology Camp - Exploring Fossils, Dinosaurs, and the Flood

At Exploring Fossils, Dinosaurs, and the Flood, Patrick will be answering questions like:

  • What does the Bible say about dinosaurs? Are there dinosaurs in the Bible?
  • Did God create dinosaurs? And if so, when did God create them?
  • Were there dinosaurs on Noah’s ark?
  • What caused the extinction of the dinosaurs?
  • How does a young-earth creationist explain the evidence for fossil records dating back millions of years?

Activities for Geology Camp 1 include:

  • A fun fossil dig
  • Real life fossil artifacts you can touch and examine
  • Fascinating talks on dinosaurs and the flood
  • A field trip to the Columbia Plateau
  • A fluorescent rock demonstration
  • And plenty of time to answer all your questions!

Geology Camp 2: August 7th-10th

Exploring Rocks, Minerals, and the Flood

Geology Camp 2: Exploring Rocks, Minerals, and the Flood

At Exploring Rocks, Minerals, and the Flood, Patrick will be answering questions like:

  • How does a young-earth geologist handle the evidence for rock layers dating back millions of years?
  • How long does it actually take for rock layers to form?
  • How do volcanoes fit into the creation of a “very good” earth?
  • How does the Missoula Flood fit into the Genesis flood account?
  • How does the flood explain different rock types?

Activities for Geology Camp 2 include:

  • A field trip to Dry Falls and Okanogan Valley
  • A class on the principles of rock identification
  • Lessons on the 12 rock-forming minerals
  • A rock identification card you can take home
  • A fluorescent rock demonstration
  • And plenty of time to answer all your questions!

You will find each of Pat's presentations are carefully researched. Each lesson will keep children, teens, and adults on the edge of their seat as they explore the depths of the Bible.

Geology Camp rock identification cards

By the end of the camp, you’ll find your faith in the Scriptures strengthened as you learn how to use God’s word to understand the geology of the Earth.

And of course, our traditional camp activities will be open too, including:

  • Gaga pit
  • Volleyball court
  • Kayaking
