Our August Character Camp went very smoothly, and we were able to connect with the kids that came!
Monday, we had our first day of Character Camp! It went really well, and the kids enjoyed the activities and messages. We had a pretty large group of kids, and it was fun doing crafts with them, swimming with them, and playing bump.
Tuesday, we had 30 kids and about 10 teen leaders. Our biggest group yet! The kids enjoyed playing basketball, gaga ball, swimming, throwing tomahawks and knives, and also baking cookies. One of the boys was super excited about baking cookies, I guess he’s never done it before but has always wanted to.
Wednesday- We decided to do bread making and that was a hit! That is always something the kids enjoy. We also have continued to do the joke of the day. This time we put out a question box for them to write questions about God, heaven, or anything. We got some good questions. today we are planning to answer some of those questions.
Thursday went really well. We had our slippin‘ slide set up and that was a lot of fun for all of us. The kids decorated cookies and played pool a lot. That game is a major attraction for all the teen helpers. I had a really long and great conversation with Halle. She is one of the girls I connected with a long time ago. It was cool to just talk about life and see her perspective. She isn’t coming today, but I’ll probably see her this next week when we are here at the ranch. We did questions and answers for the session and the kids asked some more questions afterward.
Friday- We only had some teen leaders, because the kids were with their parents. They spent the day hanging out with us and playing pool. It was a good chance for us to connect with the older kids and my mom had a good long conversation with Michelle. the boys and girls club director. Overall, it was a fun last day, but we did miss all the kids!
Please pray for these kids since we won't be doing a program with them until April.
